My absolute favorite quest chain in World of Warcraft is the Crusader Bridenbrad line, which begins with Tirion Fordring and the quest A Tale of Valor. Since the quest is from two expansions ago, I feel no guilt in spoiling it: Fordring sends you to find Bridenbrad, who has secluded himself high in the glaciers of Icecrown. He has contracted the plague of undeath, and, though he knows he is doomed, waits for his end in the snow and cold so that he doesn't infect anyone else.
Tirion won't have this, of course, because Bridenbrad is a paladin and a champion of the Light. He sends you around the world to seek assistance from powerful beings of healing and purity, that Bridenbrad may be cleansed of the plague. Ultimately, he sends you to A'dal, who lifts Bridenbrad bodily into paradise whilst promising, "The Light does not abandon its champions."
Gets me choked up every time.
