We'll take a break from talking about WoW for a post.
So Bioware is releasing a new expac for The Old Republic. It's apparently called Galactic Starfighter and, apparently, it features, um, starfighting. In whatever the precursors to X-wings and TIE fighters are called in canon. I don't know, I'm getting literally everything I know about it from the trailer.
I find this interesting because EVE Online is releasing a new game next year that also features starfighting. Now, in EVE, fighters have always been drones, controlled by the AI, and they haven't really been integral to overall gameplay -- since only carriers can field them, they're limited to capital engagements. In Star Wars, on the other hand, fighters have been integral from the beginning -- a nod to the WWI-style cinematography.
I'd given up on TOR a long time ago, and I haven't been playing EVE either. But my interest is at least mildly piqued to give the pilot thing a go. So, hey, Bioware, congrats: you're implementing the one and only thing that might have enticed me to log on again.
I hope I remember my password.
